Luna the Nahual

Bio:

When Luna walks towards me, she is terribly graceful and confident, though there is a quiet warmth in her actions that belies her true character. Though not particularly tall, she is incredibly athletic- something that speaks of her nomadic lifestyle and the hours she spends prowling, either foraging or on the hunt.

She is in her human form as she approaches, long, lean legs taut with muscles as they move over the hard, rocky terrain before reaching me. 

Her brown hair is braided away from her face, exposing brown, clear eyes like the colour of the earth after it rains, and golden, tanned skin that speaks of long, arduous hours in the sun. 

Her smile is welcoming and familiar when she spots me, and rather than a wave, or a nod, I am greeted with a hug. “Sister,” she says, for in her culture we are like siblings- tied together by the boiling tears of the sun turned into blood-  “It is good to see you.”

“Same to you, Luna,” I reply. “Let’s get started, then.”

She nods seriously and we begin.

“Why did you step forward during the calling?”

“My people hold visions as sacred,” she explains. “To you it may be meaningless, but I had a vision. A dream of working alongside a human. Of passing along my knowledge to them, and building a bridge between our understandings of the world. 

“This,” she gestures at us, “was merely a happy coincidence. It is less work to seek out a willing and open human when someone has already offered to do so.” 

She laughs when she sees the incredulity in my face. “I suppose it sounds crazy, but I am certain that this is my path, and that this is what I am meant to be doing. I know that through my work I will please the moon and sun.”

“So your wish is to mentor a person?”

Luna contemplates the question for a moment. “I suppose- though I know in my heart that I will be learning as much as I will be teaching. While the secrets I carry with me in relation to earthen magics, protection, healing, and conjuring are valuable- I feel within my soul there is much for me to uncover about myself and about my work through this potential companionship.”

“This is also a journey of self-discovery for you, then.”

Luna agrees.

“What would your ideal companion be like for you, in this case?”

As if already prepared for the question, she answers almost immediately. “I desire to work with a companion who is self-reflecting. A person who is eager and passionate about learning and exploring the world around them, as am I. I also seek someone to balance me- a person with darker leanings, and with an understanding of dark energies would be an interesting foil to my own work.”

“And what would you like your companion to know about you?”

“That I am not so good at describing myself,” she admits, giggling.

I thank Luna for her time after a few more minutes of small talk, and then watch as she shifts into her animal form- a beautiful Mexican Grey Wolf. She is average in size even as a wolf, but incredibly powerful and strong, something which is evident from her movements as she bounds away from me, disappearing from sight almost as quickly as she appeared.
